Welcome

The Group is located at McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Most of its projects are based in the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) of the Faculty of Music.

Its main focus is continuing development of the McGill Ultra-Videoconferencing System for high-bandwidth, high-quality, and low-latency videoconference interaction, such as that required for high fidelity instruction and distributed musical performance. The overall objective is to create the feeling of “being there” wherever “there” may be.

The Group has had a number of funded research projects underway since early 2000. Past and current projects are listed on the left.

The permanent members of the Group are:
Jeremy Cooperstock, Centre for Intelligent Machines, Faculty of Engineering
John Roston, Faculty of Music
Wieslaw Woszczyk, Faculty of Music

Additional researchers from both McGill and other institutions have played key roles in individual projects and are listed under the projects in which they participated.

The Group has made their software available free for broad public use while restricting resale and incorporation in commercial products. New release now available for free download.
